'Tears of Skin' was inspired by the Black Consciousness Movement and the life of Steve Biko. Watching the funeral procession of Steve Biko inspired this painting. The footage awakened the idea of the skin of the collective crying for what we, as humans, have done to each other based on the pigment of our skin.  This painting is of the tears of our skin. It was originally exhibited at the Leeuwenhof Slave Quarters Remembrance Gallery in the first iteration of artists curated by the AVA Gallery.
